One of the most important things to know, about putting an up an ebay auction is; Knowing what time and day your auction end will. You may not think it’s important, but this is crucial to hitting the most target customer base. The last hour of the auction listing will have the most bids. You want the most people fighting over your auction when it ends, as possible. So it’s key to know what time of day the most people shop on ebay. Then you figure in what time of the day your auction will end. I will refer to everything in Eastern time.
On a 3 day auction, your auction will start at Tuesday Morning, 5:00 am, your auction will end at Friday Morning 5:00 am. This is the worst time to post your auctions. Almost nobody is on ebay at 5:00 am, so there are no bid wars. You will be selling your stuff for much less. Another thing is, your auction might not even sell, because nobody was there to buy it. One benefit to that is, 5:00 am is probably the best time to buy anything on ebay for the same reason. Nobody is there to have a bid war with you. You have to figure out your auction start time and relate it to, what day and time the auction will end. This way you can figure out the best time, to have your auction end on that day.
Now that you get the idea, that the morning time, is the worst time, to end auctions on ebay; You need to know what time is the best time to end ebay auctions. The best time an auction can end Monday thru Thursday is 6:00 pm -11:00 pm. Most people shop ebay on weekdays, after they get home from work and eat supper. By giving a 5 hour leeway, you can hit the most potential customers across the country. If you follow this time table guide line, I can guarantee your Monday thru Thursday sales increase.
The Friday time table is all by itself. People like to go out on Friday nights after work or school. You have to accommodate this by setting your auction start times a little later. You will still get the crowd that shops on ebay after work and supper as well. So now you have to accommodate 2 types of ebay shoppers on Friday nights. By ending your Friday auctions at 6:00 pm - 3:00 am (sat. morning). You will be surprised how many people buy your stuff after 11:00 pm on a Friday night. The people that shop on ebay regularly, will shop when they get home late on Friday night. So you are hitting the family audience and the party audience by setting your Friday time table like so.
Saturdays on ebay can vary. You can have people buying off you all day long. People generally shop on ebay mostly during the day on Saturday. All though, you will get a lot of sales at night as well. From personal tests, anywhere from 12:00 pm Saturday to 3:00 am Sunday morning. Yes, you will get sales all day long, as well as all night long. Saturday is usually a really good day for sales.
Sunday is another day all by itself in the auction time table. You will have people shopping all day and going to bed early for work or school. This is the day people relax and most ebay shoppers can’t resist relaxing on a Ebay! The best time table for Sunday is to have your auctions end at 12:00 pm thru 11:00 pm.
Notes about this blog: All the times I refer to are Eastern time. I would recommend doing 3 day auctions to start off with, using this system. Get used to what day and time your auction will end 3 days later. This will be your target time. Whatever time you start your auction, your auction will end 3 full days later at the same exact time it started.
