advertise-right.bmpI hope everyone is doing great today. I got an email last night about the post I wrote yesterday. The person claimed that they payed for 100,000 hits to their website and said they got 3 sales out of it. This is a terrible ratio. A good website marketer will average 100-1000 hits per sale. Don’t pay for website traffic. Most of it is program generated traffic. The person just puts your website information into a program. Then the program sends the specified amount of computer generated hits to the website. Most of the time the traffic isn’t even a real person. Even if the traffic driven did have some human aspect, the traffic won’t be your businesses target audience. Don’t ever buy website traffic. There are so many other ways that normal users can reach a wider range customer base without buying hits. Fine, spruce up your meta tags and description so your website is as search engine friendly as possible. But don’t over do it, it will be a waste of time with today’s big technology and content hungry search engines.

Yes, I see on ebay and many other places where you can buy traffic to your website. If you want to try it fine. People used to buy traffic, so they could drive their web page rank up. But nowadays that kind of traffic makes little to no effect on your web page rank. The traffic is never potential customers. They are usually people forced there through some pop up link if the traffic isn’t computer generated. If anything, your website advertisement link will look like spam to your normal everyday internet user.

Google among other popular search engines, have really gone after this type of traffic. This type is practice to drive more hits to your website is frowned upon and will only drive your web page rank lower now. You used to be able to drive your web page rank up with the more traffic you get. About a year ago I bought some web hits(125,000 hits within 24 hours) and I didn’t get one sale from it. Each visitor was recorded being there for less than a second. That means, all I did was pay someone to run a program to my web page. The advertisement put me under the impression that I would drive my sales up. So i thought the visitors would be real people. You have to watch out for these scams. I wish I could remember the name of the company. I know I bought the traffic from someone on ebay with good feedback unfortunately.

The bottom line is, newer optimized search engine giants are not putting up with businesses taking shortcuts anymore. Buying traffic will be useless. If you work hard and advertise your website or business the proper way, you will prosper. Shortcuts will ruin your web page ranking now.

Here is a hint. New search engines (like google’s new setup) have a habit of finding updated content only. So if you update your website everyday, you will have more of a chance being on the first page of someones searches. My little marketing and advertising team, haven’t quite figured out how the new search engines are listing your website for clicks. So far through our research, we found that they look for, the most clicks that land on your page for 15 seconds or more. But we haven’t confirmed the click to listing ratio yet in our research. As soon as we figure it out, I will let you know. Basically, the more visitors that land on your web page for 15 seconds or longer, you will have more of a chance being listed on the first page of someones searches.

I really hope this explains about the proper way to drive traffic to your website. If anyone has any questions at all, don’t hesitate to ask me. I would love to help. See you tomorrow!
